Elder Nominations

Elder Nominations

At our Annual Meeting & Vision Sunday on Sunday, January 29, 2023 the Elders recommended and nominated to the congregation two new elders to join the Elder Board of Valley Bible Church - Gerard Ciccarello and Casey Fritz. Please take a moment to read more about them. Also please review the selection process below. It provides guidelines and direction for you the congregation as we make this decision together. We are currently planning to vote on these nominees on Sunday March 5th.

Gerard Ciccarello

Gerard is married to his wife Pam for 35 years and they have seven children. For years they have followed Jesus and served the local church in various capacities, from children & youth ministry to worship ministry and facility design and renovation, etc. Gerard served as an Elder at his previous church and has attended Valley Bible Church for over 20 years. While Gerard is perhaps most well known for signature kitchen and bath design and remodels, his greatest passion is the local church and advancing the Kingdom of God. His relational approach to disciple-making and vision for reaching the next generation are strengths that Gerard is looking forward to bringing to the elder board at Valley Bible Church.

Casey Fritz

Casey’s passion is to see the local church (Valley Bible Church) energized, equipped and edified as it seeks to impact the community surrounding it. Casey was in ministry for over 20 years. He planted a church in and started a church in Los Angeles. He also served at a Los Angeles church of over 5k people, and operated as one of the lead pastors. He has ministry experience operating as…children’s pastor, youth pastor, oversaw counseling and care, presentation ministry, missions outreach, worship team, teaching teams and led community/life groups which had over 65 active groups and much more. Casey graduated School of Ministry, Resurgence Training, is approved through the Church Planting Assessment Center (CPAC) and has published over 30 books. Casey is married to his wife Emily and they have two children – Moses and Violet.

We make these recommendations based upon biblical qualifications as well as the specific leadership needs for the board as we provide leadership for the church. Valley’s by-laws (below) outline both the qualifications as well as the selection process.

3.4 Qualifications

An Elder must be a member and have a demonstrated history of making disciples, and is currently modeling the vision of the church by his involvement in ministry. Because of his role as an overseer, an Elder cannot be a Director. The biblical qualifications for this role are found in 1 Timothy 3:2‑7 and Titus 1:5-9.

3.5  Selection

3.5.1.

The board will consist of a minimum of 3 Elders, including the Senior Pastor.

3.5.2.

The existing board of Elders will nominate those who will be presented as potential Elders, who must be men and Members in good standing of the church.

The prospective Elder’s name will be presented to the congregation along with a reminder of the biblical requirements for Elders.

The congregation will be given 30 days to show cause why the prospective elder would not be qualified to serve.  In agreement with Matthew 18:15 and Matthew 5:24, any person who believes he or she has such a cause, must first express that concern to the prospective elder personally.  If the matter remains unresolved, the person with the concern must express that concern to the board of Elders for consideration.

If there are no issues that the Elder Board believes have not been adequately resolved, the prospective elder(s) will be presented at a congregational meeting for affirmation by the majority of Members present.

Based upon this process, we plan to hold a congregational vote to Elect these new elders to our Elder Board on Sunday, March 5, 2023.

“And when they had appointed elders for them in every church, with prayer and fasting they committed them to the Lord in whom they had believed.”

Acts 14:23
